Study 23 on standing behind the sun

We’ve had our hands in the sun. For once. We had them. Reaching into the sky. Towards the sun. We gave everything. We reached out as long as we could. No force could weaken our arms. Our muscles and our minds were the strongest versions of themselves.

What is left of it? Do they know the drill? Caroline Beach and Noah Punkt reach out for a new safe haven. Better than five years ago – when they’ve had their hands in the sun –, quicker than before, stronger than before. Potentialismatic Extensional Performismo: in movement, in sound, in word, in a breath.

It’s not an update! It’s 3.0! So set the sails.

Caroline Beach

Caroline Beach (Dallas, 1990) is a choreographer, dancer, and musician based in Dresden and Berlin. She holds an MA in Choreography from the Palucca Hochschule and an MA from the AdBK Nürnberg.  She has made works for a multitude of spaces across a range of mediums including theaters, galleries, off-spaces, the Internet, and a media storage closet. Her work ‘Sailor on Aisle 5’ was co-produced by Festspielhaus Hellerau and through NPN Stepping Out was adapted into  ‘SONDERANGEBOT’, a work for public and off-spaces in Berlin and Dresden.  She is currently making a series of modular performances under the title “Untitled Shipwrecks” that explore the wreckage of information consumption.

Noah Punkt

Noah Punkt (Güstrow (DE), 1984 as Tom Zackl) is a double bass player, composer and performer living in Zurich. He studied musicology at the University of Leipzig and jazz at the HfM Weimar. His work focuses on improvised music and jazz. Primarily in smaller ensembles, he explores the openness, intimacy and flexibility of reduced instrumentation. In addition to purely musical work, he is also active in performance art and performed with the music theater project Weichplast and alongside Caroline Beach he created and performed the piece “Two Hands in the Sun” (premiere 2018, Festspielhaus Hellerau).
